Just 20 miles out of London, St Albans is easy to get to for some fascinating family days out.
The city is understandably proud of its Roman history, and the Verulamium Museum takes you back to that era with stunning mosaics, recreated Roman rooms and interactive exhibits. The grounds include a wildlife garden and a small children's trail.
You can also learn more about the city in the Old St Albans Treasure Trail, where you can solve clues hidden amid landmarks and which is a fun and educational way to spend a couple of hours.
Huntfun offers a similar city treasure hunt and there's a two-for-one deal available, while Barracudas, which offers Easter and summer activity day camps for children aged between 4 and 14, has money off deals.
Among the other things to do in St Albans, Pioneer Skatepark has ramps for all ages and abilities, plus an outside area with two mini ramps, while the fun at Cloud 9 Leisure is of the inflatable kind, with Ninja Warrior and Total Wipeout inspired courses and a dodgeball court. Kids will love both.
Alternatively, show your creativity at Pots of Art Ceramic Studio, which includes special messy sessions for the under fives.
