Things To Do In Sudbury

The quaint market town of Sudbury is a great place for family days out. Situated in Suffolk but close to the Essex border, it's easily accessible and boasts plenty of things to do in the local area.

Within Sudbury itself, kids will love the variety of activities on offer at Kingfisher Leisure Centre, especially on a rainy day. The pool is a kid's dream, with flumes, a wave machine and even a beach effect area, perfect for little ones. Kingfisher's soft play area is also great for kids to let off some steam.

On sunny days, there are two fantastic parks just down the road. Long Melford Country Park is just north of Sudbury, while a little further on you'll find Clare Castle Country Park and both are perfect for days out in the fresh air. Long Melford is ideal for family walks along its trails and former railway line, providing great views of the village, and at Clare Castle you'll find bundles of history to enjoy, including a 13th-century stone castle and old Victorian railway station, with interactive displays.

Also within easy reach of Sudbury and both country parks is Kentwell Hall and Gardens, where you can explore the mansion and even visit animals at the farm. Kids will also love the brick maze and Heffalump Hunt on offer.

Hedingham Castle, to the south of Sudbury, is another fantastic day out for adults and youngsters alike. It boasts one of England's largest Norman arches, and during the summer, you can watch displays of jousting and outdoor theatre productions run by the Globe.
