If you live in Liverpool or are basing yourself there during a holiday, and you're looking for family days out, the nearby Lancashire town of Skelmersdale is handily placed for a day trip or two.
The Jungle is perfect for young children and has two play areas - one for toddlers and another for slightly older kids. The first has a slide, mini roundabout and ball juggler, while the latter has trampolines, a ball pool, crocodile pit and more.
If the outdoor life is more your scene, Fairy Glen - near the village of Appley Bridge, just north of Skelmersdale - boasts picturesque woodland with terrific views and an array of trees and plants.
Pipsqueaks Play Cafe is less than 10 minutes east of Skelmersdale and features a dual-level adventure play frame, including balls, slides, tunnels and bridges. There's also soft play at Bizee Kidz, in Wigan, for those aged up to 12, which also includes a sports pitch.
For wildlife days out, there's Acorn Farm in nearby Kirkby, where you can see sheep, cows, goats, pigs and more, while you can get up close to ducklings, swans, otters and flamingos at the WWT Martin Mere Wetland Centre in Burscough.
