About Kensington Palace
Explore ancient and modern history with one of the best royal days out in London at Kensington Palace.
Currently home to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and in years gone by, the residence of Queen Victoria, William III, Mary II and Queen Anne, the Palace is steeped in regal history and charm.
Not only great for family days out, Kensington Palace is also the ideal way for youngsters to learn about key moments in history, from the Tudors, Georgians and Victorians, right through to the present day.
Kids will love exploring Queen Victoria's childhood rooms, where you can see her dolls house and a scrapbook of memories created by Victoria's German governess, as well as the opulent King's State Apartments and Queen's State Apartments.
Once you've had your fill of historic grandeur indoors, be sure to head out into Kensington Palace Gardens, with the beautiful centrepiece the Sunken Garden, which was planted way back in 1908. The Sunken Garden is especially stunning with its variety of colours from April through to August.
Visitors can also enjoy Cradle Walk which surrounds the Sunken Garden, as well as the Formal Gardens and wildflower meadow.
Once you've worked up an appetite, Kensington Palace Pavilion Restaurant and Tea Room or the Palace Cafe are perfect for a meal or snack, while there are plenty of other things to do in the local area to complete your day out.
