About Kew Gardens

Where better to spend a relaxing family day out in the sunshine than the floral splendour of the magnificent Kew Gardens?

Its arboretum, which stretches across two-thirds of the 300-acre gardens, includes 14,000 trees, representing more than 2,000 species - some rare and ancient.

Check out the carnivorous plants, such as Venus flytraps and Pitcher plants, or experience the drama of life inside a beehive in a fascinating installation.

Be sure to discover the seasonal Kitchen Garden and pay tribute to the most resilient plants that thrive in the cool climate of the Davies Alpine House.

The tranquil Japanese Gardens, beautiful Great Broad Walk Borders and picturesque lake are rich treats for the eyes - as is the Great Pagoda, which offers spectacular views across London.

Youngsters will love the Treetop Walkway, elegantly and subtly design and rising 18 metres above the ground - from there, you can observe the complex ecosystem of the canopies and its birds, insects, lichen and fungi.

And the Children's Garden, which has hidden treasures and adventures around every corner, is themed around the elements - earth, air, sun and water - and is perfect for pre-school and primary school kids.

Kew is in the Richmond area of west London and is a perfect place to get away from the hustle and bustle of central London.

My family and I really enjoyed Kew Gardens. As you would expect the gardens are immaculate and there's also a play area for the children which is great.
