Where the River Severn meets the River Avon lies the Gloucestershire market town of Tewkesbury, and it has plenty to offer those looking for family days out in the south west.
At Tewkesbury Leisure Centre, you can channel your inner Rebecca Adlington with some value-for-money swimming, or tone up at the gym.
Days out to Tewkesbury would not be complete without a visit to the Town Museum, which is based in a 17th-century building. You can learn about the 1471 Battle of Tewkesbury, one of the decisive battles of the Wars of the Roses, and discover what it was like to live locally in Roman times. There's also some First World War history, for those studying that period, while you can also see bricks that date back four hundred years.
Among the other things to do in Tewkesbury, the Huntfun Treasure Hunts are the perfect way to learn about the sites and history of the area and comes with some great offers.
On the Tewkesbury Treasure Hunt Trail, you will need to display expert teamwork to solve puzzles and dig up the (fictional, sorry!) treasure. It'll help you discover a town that includes a Norman-era abbey and many medieval Tudor buildings.
Slightly further down the road, closer to nearby Cheltenham, is the Playmate Children's Riding School, where youngsters aged 2 to 12 can learn how to ride and care for ponies, and Funky Warehouse, a 14,000sqft indoor activity centre that includes trampolines, a three-storey soft play area, parkour for free running and a bouldering wall.
