Keep the kids amused and get your daily steps in by taking part in Huntfun Stafford. With clues to crack, the treasure trail will take you on a tour of the town, as a great way to see the sights while having fun and learning about the area.
For a history fix, take a trip to Stafford Castle, where you can explore the castle and extensive grounds. Kids will love the hands-on experiences, with brass rubbing, coin minting and lots of dressing-up to be done! Within the grounds, the Staffordshire Owl Experience and Birds of Prey Rescue Centre is also well worth a visit.
The local National Trust site, Shugborough Estate, has plenty of things to do for all ages. The historic Georgian mansion and surrounding woodland is great for exploring, while active kids will enjoy Explorer's Wood and there's Park Farm for little ones.
There are also great days out to be enjoyed just along the road in Amerton, where kids will love Amerton Farm and Craft Centre, complete with soft play area, and Amerton Railway, where families can hop aboard a steam train and ride through the stunning countryside.
