Hartlebury might be a small village in the heart of Worcestershire, but it's not short of things to do in the immediate area and slightly further afield.
Within Hartlebury itself, start with a trip to Hartlebury Castle which provides a fascinating window to the past. As well as exploring the castle's Georgian Saloon and Medieval Great Hall, there's also the Cider Mill and Transport Gallery, not to mention the grounds where you can enjoy a picnic in beautiful surroundings.
Just along the road is Harvington Hall, a moated medieval manor house steeped in history to explore. There's loads to enjoy inside, as well as the Walled Gardens, moat and lake within the grounds.
If the little (and big!) kids are looking for something a bit more adventurous, head to Go Ape at Wyre Forest. The outdoor high-ropes extravaganza is great fun for all the family and provides a good challenge too, with climbing, swinging and zip-wires to tackle.
Another outdoor adventure lies in wait at West Midland Safari Park, just a short drive from Hartlebury. Much more than just an animal park (though that alone is pretty cool!), it also boasts roller coasters and a dinosaur experience, so you can easily spend a full day here.
More relaxing alternatives can be found just along the road at both the Severn Valley Railway, where you can take a ride on a real steam train, and the Melting Pot, which offers the chance to get creative with pottery painting.
