Things To Do In Rotherham

Situated just north of Sheffield in South Yorkshire, Rotherham is a lovely place for family days out.

There are plenty of things to do for kids and adults of all ages, and the whole family will enjoy a trip to Clifton Park. Not only is there oodles of outdoor space and beautifully manicured gardens to explore, but also Rotherham Mini Golf, a summer splash park and a funfair. You can also lace up your trainers and join in with the free parkrun on a Saturday morning.

On rainy days, you can still have a great time by popping into the park’s Georgian mansion, where you’ll find Clifton Park Museum.

If you enjoy days out at Clifton Park, you’ll also love Boston Castle and Park. Recently restored, a visit to the grade II listed building can be topped off by climbing to the rooftop viewing platform, for stunning views across Rotherham and nearby Sheffield. Be aware, the viewing platform must be pre-booked and toddlers unfortunately aren’t permitted.

Toddlers are, however, welcome at Camelot Play Castle. With a special area for children under three, bigger kids are free to tear around the rest of the castle, where there are slides, ball pits, sandpits and soft play to keep them occupied.

Kids of all ages will enjoy a competitive tour of Rotherham with Huntfun – a chance to see the town through the fun of a treasure trail.

Inquisitive minds will have a great time exploring the interactive, earth, wind, fire and water zones at Magna Science Adventure Centre, with more than 100 hands-on weird and wacky experiments to try.
